Swing Time

Monday, July 30, 2007

My mom installed this hammock chair in the back yard & Payton loves to swing in it.
I think that picture proves it.
Such a happy girl!
Life couldn't get any better...
But what about doing it by myself...
Now this is not so fun.
SO I guess as independent as she is there are some things that are more fun with someone else.

Popsicles... not just cold but they taste good too!

Thursday, July 26, 2007

When we got home from our fountain walk yesterday I gave her a popsicle for the first time. She made more of a mess than anything else but oh well. The picture below... it see what she is doing you have to watch the video.

Look mom my hands are all sticky.
She finally realized that it wasn't just cold but that it tastes good too.
Hopefully next time it won't take so much coaxing to get her to enjoy it!

Fountains

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Lately we have been going on walks to get out of the house. We have found a few fountains that Payton just loves.
This one is in the Paseo Mall at the Los Robles end.
Here are some hilarious videos.

I love that the fountain has all of those plants encircling the fountain so she can't make a quick get away.
It has been really hot lately so it has been fun for her to play by the fountain. She hasn't quite gotten to the point of getting soaked but I'm sure it will be very soon.
There are a couple other fountains off of Los Robles (between the Westin Hotel & California Pizza Kitchen on Union). You should check it out. The one at CPK is really shaded during the morning so even if it is hot it's still pretty nice.

What are you doing?

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

I'm not sure if it's teething (by the way she has at least 3 coming in right now) but that tongue has been out of her mouth going back & forth like crazy. She has also been chewing on her fingers. She was watching a movie & I looked back & saw her doing this. She was so distracted by the TV that she didn't even see me taking the pictures. I don't have my regular camera so I couldn't edit the video below. About 25 seconds into it is when that tongue gets going.

As you can tell she is very active while she is also very distracted by the TV, so naturally she falls. But notice as she is falling (& it doesn't look very comfortable at all!) her eyes never leave the TV.
And the recovery.
And very quickly back to the TV again.
Sometimes I wonder... am I raising a couch potato?

The most comfortable seat...

Sunday, July 22, 2007

Payton loves to sit on our laps if we are sitting on the floor. She will start about 2 feet away & then back up slowly, taking lots of little cute steps till she reaches us. BEEP BEEP BEEP

We never really lay on the ground (cum'on it's really uncomfortable) but when we do she takes full advantage of it.
Donald became her favorite seat! And he loved it too!
I missed a picture of getting her with her hand on his throat pushing off to get up & making Donald cough, which of coarse she thought was hilarious.
Donald is the best play structure/dad to Payton. What would we do without him?

Huntington Beach

Friday, July 20, 2007

We went down to Huntington Beach yesterday. My mom's friend was in town so we went to go visit with her & spend some time on the beach. Last time Payton had a fun time at the beach, since then something must have changed. She didn't want to touch the sand or walk on the sand even with her water shoes on. We wend down to the water & got her feet wet & we walked back some sand got on the top of her shoes & she was distressed. She went to go wipe it off but then it was on her hand which wasn't what she wanted either. So she just sat with us until she got tired. Mom got her to sleep & she slept in the stroller for around 2 hours. That is longer than some of her naps at home have been. She was all wrapped up because it was so windy & in the shade it would get a little cold. She was a little confused when she woke up (which was very cute!) & cuddled for a while, which is always nice. After her nap she hadn't warmed up to the sand. I hoped that it was because she was tired but no such luck. Kristin ended up taking her down to the water's edge & she didn't move.
Look mom, waves! She sat there & stared at the waves.
Her feet never adjusted once Kristin placed her feet on the sand. She is so quirky!
Here she really wanted to come over to me so that I would take her back but she had to walk over to me so she stayed right where she was. I'm such a mean mommy!
One word (or sound) will help to understand this picture. "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHH" She was complaining that I wouldn't come to get her.
Payton was mesmerized by the waves! Or maybe she was keeping an eye out for the water.
I'd like to think that Payton had a good time even though she really didn't do ANYTHING while we were there.
Here comes the water... it didn't end up getting all the way up to her though.
That is the closet thing to a smile we got while she was that close to the water, while a body part was touching the sand!
I guess the moral of the story is that we have to go again soon so that she can get used to it.

New games & New shoes

So recently Payton's favorite game is to play with balls. She throws them & loves to chaise after them. Sometimes it is a little harder to get to them than others.Trying to squeeze out!
Yes I've made it!!!
You want me to throw this ball? She will pass the ball back & forth for a while too.
So check out her new shoes.... They are Mary Jane Crocs & I love love love them!!
I found them on Ebay & actually paid about $10 less for them then if I would have bought them online. Actually if they would have been in stock. Her size 4/5 was out of stock for 3 weeks before I found these on ebay. These are her everything shoes. It's perfect!

My little Green Thumb

Thursday, July 12, 2007

We have some plants out on our patio. Most of them have not made it. I guess it would help to not put shade plants in full sun. So that is why there are some plants that are fried.Payton loves to go out there & pretend to water. When we do put water in her watering can she drops it. It might be too heavy still. No mater what the reason she loves to go out there.
There's the shot of some dead plants.

Here I am telling her not to touch it & thus the smile. She can be such a snot sometimes, a cute snot.

Jane Austin

Tuesday, July 10, 2007

Recently I have really gotten into Jane Austin or at least her books. I have read Pride & Prejudice, Sense & Sensibility, Mansfield Park & am in the first few pages of Northanger Abbey. I am loving reading these stories, although Mansfield Park has quite a few slow sections. I am not an avid reader by any means but when I find a book that I like I zoom thru it. I have found that I really like the characters & that is why I have kept reading. Here is something that I found while Blog surfing & thought I would do it.

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

How to Make a Bow...

Sunday, July 8, 2007

I found this video & thought I would share it. Have you ever wondered how to make a bow like you can buy that already has the sticky bottom. You know like at Christmas. Well check it out. The background music is the best part, it's very game show'ish.

Haircut

Payton got her first haircut. She was in major need of one. She had these cute 'side burn' curls that were crazy & I am sad to see them go.My cousin Katherine cuts hair & she came over to cut Melissa's hair & so I had her trim up mind & cut Payton's.
We had her in her travel high chair watching Winnie the Pooh.
Yes I do have to admit that I do like her hair cut, but it doesn't mean that it wasn't a hard decision to make. Katherine you did a good job!!
