How does Payton measure happiness?

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I went to a boutique dress sale thing a friend of mine hosts every year & picked up this dress for Payton. Once she saw it she had to try it on (it's a 5T so she hasn't worn it out yet). She immediately went to the hallway & started spinning.
She said: I'm so happy for my fancy dancing dress. The pink pota dots & pink belt makes me happy & dance really good. See I'm a Princess Dancer.

Hey that's my Brother!

When the pictures finish uploading here is the conversation Payton & I had.
P: Hey that's my brother David!
Me: You mean David is your brother?
P: Yep, my sister is in your tummy & my brother is David.

Me: What about David's Mommy & Daddy? Are they the same Mommy & Daddy you have?
P: No
Me: Then why are you saying that he is your brother?
After giving me a duh mom why are you so dense look...
P: I love him & he's a boy so that makes him my brother.

How can you argue with that?
Little brother qualities that David exemplifies.
1) He loves to touch her hair (& surprisingly hasn't pulled it, at least hard enough to cause a meltdown)
2) Follows her around.
3) Giggles when she giggles.
4) As you can tell by these pictures, P ignores him & is unfazed by him trying to get her attention.
5) Loves to take the toys she's playing with, but mostly just to get her attention, which works.
And last, I don't know if this is a 'brother quality' or not but it's my favorite...
6) Every time I get to watch him I will catch them hugging each other. It's so quick that I haven't been able to get a picture yet.
It melts my heart every time! Thank you David for being such a good 'little brother'!

Cousins are Fun!

Right before we took down all of the Christmas decorations at my parents house the kids decided to hide.
My favorite picture is below.
Payton & Ryan are 5 months apart & I love to watch them play together. Neither one is always the 'leader'. This particular day Payton followed Ryan around. They are such good friends!

Something funny for the ladies!

This was something that my parents received & I just had to share. I especially love the prayer at the end. - Jenn

THE SHOEBOX

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years.

They had shared everything.. They had talked about everything.
They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little
Old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had
cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box,
but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor
said she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down
the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that
it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he
opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money
totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents.

' When we were to be married ' she said, ' my grandmother
told me that the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue.
She told me that If I ever got angry with you, I should just keep
quiet and crochet a doll. '

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears.
Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been
angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving.
He almost burst with happiness.

' Honey ' he said, ' that explains the dolls, but what about all
of this money ? Where did it come from ? '

' Oh ' she said, ' that's the money I made from selling the dolls. '

A Prayer :
Dear Lord,
I pray for Wisdom to understand my man ;
I pray for Love to forgive him ;
And I pray for Patience for his moods ;
Because Lord, if I pray for Strength,
I'll beat him to death.

Better prepared...

Were we better prepared for this rain?...
Well we were able to find rain boots!
But the water still came in.
So here we go again. Silver lining? At least my bedroom didn't get really wet so we won't be moving out again... that's good right?
